How does the McGruff® Safe
Kids Total Identification System work?
|
The system that we developed is very simple. A child gets
his fingerprints and photograph taken by one of our franchisees,
and the basic information is entered into a field on the
computer. The entire format is one page and requires very
little to no computer experience. It is a point and
click system

I have never fingerprinted anybody before, how will
I know if I am doing it correctly?
|
Very simple, the scanner that we use was developed to capture
individual fingerprints. When you click the scan button
on your computer, the scanner light turns on. Simply place
the childs finger on the top of the scanner and it
will display the childs fingerprint image on your
computer screen. It takes only a couple of seconds, and
you will see a clear fingerprint on your screen. You then
press the enter key and the software captures the fingerprint
image. The computer will automatically place that fingerprint
in the box designated for the finger you just printed. That
easy! Point and click. You then repeat the process until
you have all (ten) digits scanned. It takes approximately
one to three seconds per finger.

How do I market this to schools, businesses, civic groups,
etc.?
|
McGruff® Safe Kids TID
has a complete step-by-step marketing manual on how to easily
market this system. All of the letters and public service
advertisements (PSAs) have already been created for you.
All that you need to do is fill in the blanks.

Where do I get all of the equipment to become an franchisee,
and how much does it cost?
|
Most of the hardware and software you need to become a
franchisee comes with the grand opening package. A laptop
computer, printer, scanner, digital camera, laminator, all
the software needed to run your business, plus much more,
is included. We also include all of the marketing display
materials. You will have a very professional operation that
will draw attention at any event or school function in which
you participate.

Cost?
|
ONLY $30,000.00. The estimated initial investment required
for a McGruff Safe Kids total Identification System business
ranges from $33,300 to $38,500 for new franchisees.

What about competition from other McGruff®
Safe Kids TID franchisees?
|
There isnt any! As a franchisee you will have a protected
territory. That means that no other franchisee can do business
in your designated area. Each franchisee will have an area
with a population of approximately 500,000 people. Territories
are assigned and controlled by city/county boundaries. If
the county you live in has a population of approximately
500,000 people, then only one system is needed to handle
this area effectively. An area this size should keep you
very busy!

Can I make my own prices?
|
Yes! We suggest that you charge a sponsor at the rate of
$200.00/hour/unit with a four-hour minimum. Non-sponsor
rates vary depending on the economics of your territory.
We offer three McGruff safety packages starting as low as
$10.00, which should fit most budgets.

Can anybody be a franchisee for McGruff®
Safe Kids TID?
|
No! Prior to being awarded a franchise, prospective franchisees
must complete a thorough background check.The results of
the background check will be reviewed by the corporate office
and the National Crime Prevention Countcil. If acceptable,
a franchise will be awarded. We are sure that you understand
how important it is to protect the children we work with
and the good name of McGruff the
Crime Dog®. As part of the application process,
we request a $100.00 non-refundable charge so that we can
complete a thorough background check before a franchise
is awarded.

Do I have a support network that I can count on?
|
Yes! Tech support is available during normal business hours.
An after-hours emergency phone number is provided. The McGruff®
Safe Kids TID staff can be reached via e-mail,
phone, or fax. We will always try to assist you in any way
we can and as quickly as possible.

What do I do if something breaks or does not work?
|

Dont panic. We provide you with all of the resources
to contact someone who will help you with your problem.
We will attempt to fix the problem immediately or as soon
as humanly possible.

How do I get additional supplies?
|
Easy! We start you out with enough kits to process 1500
children. This will give you plenty of working capital to
purchase additional supplies. Budget your supplies; do not
let them run low before you reorder. You can order online
through our password protected Franchisee Resource page,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It will take approximately
seven business days to receive your supplies. We can overnight
supplies to you, however, overnight shipping can be costly
and will drive up your costs. It is the responsibility of
the franchisee to pay for all shipping, so please plan ahead.
It will save you money and unnecessary stress.
